An Order of Daily Meditation and Prayer
At a set time and place each day, whether in the
morning before work and school, or at the dinner table, or before
bed, pray and confess out loud as much from this order of
meditation and prayer as you are able, or as your family size and
ages dictate.
INVOCATION
In the name of the Father, and the X
Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
THE APOSTLES' CREED
READINGS AND MEDITATIONS
Read one of more of the following as your devotion
dictates.
A brief reading from Scripture
You may wish to keep the bulletin from worship on
Sunday and reread the week's lesson(s). A Psalm is also
always appropriate.
A section of the Small Catechism
Read one or two sections of Luther's Small
Catechism, such as the First Commandment with meaning.
A Devotion such as Portals of Prayer.
After the readings the family may discuss, or the
individual may meditate upon the reading(s).
PRAYERS
The prayers may begin with thoughts taken from the
readings. After that you may offer prayers according to the
ACTS order of prayer:

Praise God for his goodness and
holiness. |
| Confession: |
Confess to God your sinfulness
and ask for grace. |
| Thanksgiving: |
Give thanks for the blessings
in your life. |
