Trinity Lutheran Church and Day School was formed in 1877. The congregation originated with twenty-five Lutherans from St. Paul's New Gehlenbeck (now Hamel), who lived in and around Worden. These early members were largely of Prussian, German, and Swiss descent.
The first resident pastor at Trinity church and first teacher at Trinity School was Peter Hansen. He served from 1877-1915. The many devoted pastors who served since that time are as follows:
At the present time, the congregation maintains the buildings of church, parsonage (formerly the teacherage), rent house (formerly the parsonage), school and parish hall. The first structure that housed church, school, and parsonage is now the Kindergarten classroom and the church secretary's office. The present church building was erected and then dedicated in 1894. In 1948, a new Wicks pipe organ was installed to replace the Kilger organ that had been used since the church was built. the Wicks organ was dedicated "to the glory of God as a monument of Thanksgiving for the safety of all service personnel in world War II." In 1974, the outside of the church was renovated, including the addition of new siding. The interior of the church was remodeled in 1976, in preparation for the celebration of the congregation's 100th Anniversary in 1977, which also coincided with the Centennial celebration of the Village of Worden. Other projects since that time have included siding and new windows to the current parsonage, along with a new garage that was built in 1990. The various organizations of Trinity and many volunteers have helped to maintain the physical upkeep of the building and the spiritual upkeep of the members. Each year, the congregation sponsors a Sausage Supper in the fall, and a Dinner Auction in the spring. Various other projects help to provide what is necessary for the continuation of Trinity Church, keeping in mind the original concept back in 1877, of a growing, loving, caring group of parishioners, which is ongoing today.
